Little adrenaline rush-thrills

· pigeons flocking, the ruffling of feathers and soft cooing as a frenetic flurry (I love the chaos: contained, observable, fleeting)
· the three seconds before the train passes, horns blaring (the thrill pulls me in different directions)
· strangers overheard talking about your familiar things (“The light beyond those hills is just lovely,” she says pointing directly towards the one that belongs to me, and I wish to assert my singular claim but it’s gone)

· a British woman saying “a bit belligerent
· aforementioned British woman saying “quite scruffy
· walking into the sudden inhale of a runner (like a gasp)

in August

· clean click of coworker’s lips peeling back for a forced smile
· sudden recall of L sobbing over the death of White Fang in our third grade classroom
· sudden recall of her jump, the entrance into turbulent waters, the desperation
